In the wake of Group B's banning from the World Rally Championship, many of the Group B rally cars found a new home in rallycross circuit racing. The Peugeot 205 T16 eventually found its success in Division 2 of the FIA European Rallycross Championship, winning four championships for Finnish rallycross legends Seppo Niittymäki (1987) and Matti Alamäki (1988, 1989, 1990).
