The Nissan Rally Raid Team contested the 2004 Dakar Rally with four Nissan Pickup-Dakars, driven by Yves Loubet, Giniel de Villiers, Ari Vatanen, and Colin McRae. The Superproduction specification car was an evolution of the 2003 model, using the same VQ 3.5-litre 6-cylinder engine, 6-speed gearbox, differentials and suspension of its predecessor. For 2004, the wheelbase was shortened by 150 mm, bodywork was widened, and brake rotor size was increased to account for higher top speeds.

While none of the four Pickups were in contention for an overall win, the Nissan team were still able to set the three fastest times in the thirteenth stage, with Vatanen third, de Villiers second, and McRae taking his first Dakar stage win.[1][2][3]

Colin McRae DiRT[]

Colin drove this car himself once, probably for its impressive power to weight ratio and reliability. It's a good car, but does lack a certain spark to compete with ease against the leaders in the class.
