The Mini Countryman WRC Concept appeared at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, and displayed Mini's plans to enter the World Rally Championship. The car (built and prepped by Prodrive) features a direct-injection 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four engine developed by BMW Motorsport[1]. The final evolution of the concept, the Mini John Cooper Works WRC rally car, debuted in the 2011 WRC season and has won in 2012 Tour de Corse, 2012 Qatar International Rally, 2013 Spanish Rally Championship and 2014 Barum Czech Rally Zlín.
Mini abandoned its works involvement in the WRC following the 2012 season. However, having competed in every rally of the season, the Countryman had achieved WRC homologation and was able to continue competing on a customer basis[2].

- A DC Challenge in the Winter X-Games involves the player racing the Countryman down a rally stage against a bobsleigh on the Lillehammer Bobsleigh Track, since both begin and end in the same places and both courses are roughly the same length. This is similar to two challenges that have featured on the British motoring show TopGear (both of which took place at the Lillehammer course), the first race being a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution rally car, driven by Henning Solberg, against a professional bobsleigh team, the second featuring Meeke and his Countryman against skeleton racer Amy Williams.
- The Mini Countryman Rally in both DiRT 3 on DiRT Rally are based on the prototype version of the Mini JCW WRC, as many of its panels are different to the actual WRC car such as the front bumper and rear wing, the Mini Countryman RX is closer looking to the JCW WRC however.
