Dallenbach Racing competes in the Open Wheel division of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with the 2006 PVA-003 Dallenbach Special. Over the years it has been driven by several members of the Dallenbach family, including Wally Dallenbach Jr., Paul Dallenbach, and Wyatt Dallenbach, with Wally Jr. and Paul taking multiple class wins (including 2006, 2018, and 2021). Alongside these accomplishments, the car also won the 2007 Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb, contesting the "Ultimate Rally Car" category.
Underneath the large aerodynamic elements, the Dallenbach Special is essentially a heavily modified Wells Coyote open wheel hillclimb car, with different suspension and an IndyCar gearbox. The car was originally equipped with a 750 hp 6.6-litre Chevrolet V8 engine, although this had risen to 900 hp by 2018.[1][2][3][4][5]
